At 10,776 feet, Mount Rose is the highest peak in Washoe County, Nevada. It offers expansive views of Lake Tahoe, the city of Reno, and the surrounding area. The first winter ascent was recorded on Jan 1, 1895 by Dr. James Edward Church. He is also credited with establishing one of the nation's first high-altitude meteorological observatories on the summit.
